Mercy Hill Church is committed to being a catalyst for positive change in our city. Through partnerships with local organizations and initiatives, we actively seek opportunities to serve and meet the needs of our community.
Whether it's through volunteering, or providing resources, we are dedicated to making a meaningful impact in Winter Haven.
Here is what we mean by our mission statement. We are convinced that every Christian can Enjoy God through a relationship with God that is both vibrant and significant to their lives. The path to that enjoyment is through growing deep in our faith through the Bible and Prayer. It is also connected to loving wide, through a life marked by generosity and by sharing our faith with others. Every aspect of this enjoyment is connected to community, so we want to do this together.
As a congregation in the PCA, our statement of faith is contained in the Westminster Confession of Faith, which can be found here.
We are committed to living out the values of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to love God, love others, and share the good news of Jesus Christ.
The christian life is meant to be lived in a team. We prioritize showing up and staying late, so that we can enjoy God together. We can grow deep together. We can love wide together.
As created beings, our purpose is to “glorify God and enjoy Him forever.” Forever starts now. As believers, we have access to a vibrant spiritual connection with Christ that fills our hearts with peace and joy. As we learn to enjoy God together, we will naturally desire to be more like Him, in holiness and love.
As we read the Bible, participate in discipleship, and worship together on Sundays, we want to lean on each other’s wisdom and giftings. This way, we are able to grow deep in our knowledge of the Lord, helping to overcome our weaknesses by leaning on others’ strengths.
No matter someone’s background or past, we want to honor the fact that we are all created in the image of God. It also means that we want to connect everyone to the one who saved us from our sins and made us new. However, the work of spreading the gospel in Polk County and the World is too great of a job
Prayer is vital to the Christian life and to the life of the church. We want to pray regularly and to live our lives with the confidence that our Father is on His throne and that He still hears prayers!
We are on the SameTeam with other churches. Polk County won’t be transformed by one church, so we choose to complement, not compete with other churches in our region.
We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.
We believe in one living and true God who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each person is fully God, equal in power and glory, and shares the same divine essence. While distinct in role, they are perfectly united as one God. This doctrine of the Trinity reveals the mystery and beauty of God’s nature as taught in Scripture.
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired and infallible Word of God, fully authoritative in all matters of faith and life. They are the complete revelation of God’s will for salvation and the ultimate standard by which all teachings and actions are measured. The Bible, preserved by God’s providence, is sufficient and clear, revealing all that is necessary for knowing, loving, and glorifying Him.
We believe that Jesus Christ became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. He who is true God became true man united in one Person forever. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. On the third day He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of God the Father, He now is our HighPriest and Mediator.
We believe that being estranged from God and condemned by our sinfulness, our salvation is wholly dependent upon the work of God’s free grace. God credits His righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation, and therebyjustifies them in His sight. Only those that are born of the Holy Spirit and receive Jesus Christ become children of God and heirs of eternal life.
We believe that baptism is a sacrament instituted by Jesus Christ, signifying union with Him, the washing away of sin, and entrance into the covenant community of the church. It is a sign and seal of God’s promises to His people, symbolizing His grace and our identification with His death, burial, and resurrection. Baptism is administered with water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and it is to be applied to believers and their children as a mark of God’s covenant faithfulness. While baptism does not save, it points to the reality of salvation by grace through faith in Christ.
We believe that the Holy Spirit has come to glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to our hearts. He convicts us of sin and draws us to the Savior. Indwelling our hearts, He gives new life to us. The Holy Spirit desires to fill each believer with power to witness and imparts spiritual gifts for the edification of the Body and the work of ministry in the world. He instructs and guides us into all truth, and seals us for the day of redemption.
We believe that the true Church is composed of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit are united together in the body of Christ. The Church finds her visible, yet imperfect, expression in local congregations where the Word of God is preached in its purity and the sacraments are administered in their integrity; where scriptural discipline is practiced, and where loving fellowship is maintained.
